Have you been having issues with how to connect your Metamask to Pancakeswap? Then this is definitely for you. MetaMask is a versatile crypto wallet that has enabled smooth cryptocurrency transfers across multiple domains, including by connecting to PancakeSwap.

The wallet has a simple and easy-to-use user interface for carrying out crypto transfers with minimal complexity and confusion. As a result, MetaMask has become a popular wallet, with users using it to buy NFTs from OpenSea and hold crypto transferred from Coinbase.

What Is Metamask?

MetaMask is a popular cryptocurrency wallet known for its simplicity, availability on both desktop and mobile devices, the ability to buy, send, and receive cryptocurrency from within the wallet, and the ability to collect non-fungible tokens (NFTs) across two blockchains.

While experienced cryptocurrency users will appreciate the simplicity and speed of transactions, those who are new to the space are more likely to lose their tokens due to lost secret phrases, malicious websites, and other cryptocurrency scams.

How Metamask Works

Users can use MetaMask to store and manage account keys, broadcast transactions, send and receive Ethereum-based cryptocurrencies and tokens, and securely connect to decentralized applications using a compatible web browser or the built-in browser of the mobile app.

Websites or other decentralized applications can connect, authenticate, and/or integrate other smart contract functionality with a user’s MetaMask wallet (and any other similar blockchain wallet browser extensions) using JavaScript code, which enables the website to send action prompts, signature requests, or transaction requests to the user via MetaMask as an intermediary.

What Is Pancakeswap?

PancakeSwap is a decentralized exchange built on the BNB Chain. In other words, it is similar to established platforms such as UniSwap in that users can swap their coins for other coins without the involvement of a middleman service.
The only difference is that PancakeSwap focuses on BEP20 tokens, a specific token standard developed by Binance.

The BEP20 standard is essentially a checklist of functions that new tokens must be able to perform in order to be compatible with the larger Binance ecosystem of dApps, wallets, and other services.

How Pancakeswap Works

For those unfamiliar with the operation of decentralized exchanges, they use a special system known as an automated market maker (AMM) to facilitate trading without the use of order books or a single, intermediary company.

In essence, an order matching system is unnecessary because traders trade against liquidity pools rather than counterparties. A liquidity pool in this context refers to funds deposited into smart contracts by investors – who can be anyone from anywhere in the world – with the goal of providing liquidity to traders.

Buyers do not have to wait to be matched with sellers, and vice versa. When someone wants to exchange one token for another, they simply deposit their token into the pool and withdraw the other token they wish to receive.

How To Connect Metamast To Pancakeswap

Pancakeswap offers a decentralized environment in which users can do a variety of things such as stake some CAKE and other cool stuff. Enabling Pancakeswap is your best bet if you want to conduct any kind of dApp transaction.

It is widely known that Metamask operates on the Ethereum mainnet, necessitating a network switch to the Binance chain because you will require some BNB in your account address to pay for gas fees.
For the record, users who do not use Binance frequently experience the same issue, which is an error message related to network permission appearing on the menu.

Getting Started

Whether you use the Chrome extension, Metamask, or the mobile app, you will follow the same instructions on this page to connect your Metamask to Pancakeswap.

Step 1: Download Metamask

The first step is to install MetaMask and create a new wallet.

Firstly, go to the MetaMask website on your desktop.

Once you’re on the MetaMask website, click on “Download now” followed by “Install MetaMask for Chrome”.

Clicking on the “Install MetaMask for Chrome” will take you to the MetaMask extension on Chrome.

Next, click on “Add to Chrome” to add MetaMask to Chrome.

Once you’ve added MetaMask to Chrome, you’ll land on the homepage of the MetaMask website.

On the homepage, you’ll see a couple of options including “Import wallet” and “Create a Wallet”.

If this is your first time using MetaMask, click on “Create a Wallet”.

In the wallet creation process, you’ll be given a recovery phrase.

Make sure to save the recovery phrase somewhere safe.

After you’ve saved your recovery phrase, you need to verify it.

Once you’ve verified your recovery phrase, your MetaMask wallet will be successfully created.

Step 2: Connect Metamask To Binance Smart Chain Network

After setting up your Metamask account, the next step is to switch to Binance Smart Chain Network. According to Binance Network, it is better to use Binance Smart Chain Network on your Metamask wallet address to be able to manage Binance Smart Chain dApps, tokens, and so on.

Adding BSC to Metamask wallet

In your Metamask account, tap on “Network Selector” at the top right corner of the screen. You can also manage network options at the top right corner of your screen in the mobile app.

Click on “Custom RPC” and then click on save on the pop-up menu and your changes will be saved.

Note: You cannot connect Metamask to Pancakeswap if you don’t enable Binance Smart Chain first.

Step 3: Go to PancakeSwap & Connect

Now that you’ve created a new wallet on MetaMask, you can connect it to PancakeSwap.

Firstly, go to the PancakeSwap website.

Once you’re on the PancakeSwap website, you’ll see a “Connect” button on the top navigation bar.

Click on the “Connect” button.

How to connect MetaMask to PancakeSwap

After you’ve clicked on the “Connect” button, a pop-up will open. On the pop-up, you’ll see a list of wallets that you can choose from which includes “Metamask”, “TrustWallet”, “MathWallet”, and others. Since you’re looking to connect Metamask to PancakeSwap, click on “Metamask”.

Step 4: Connect MetaMask to PancakeSwap

After you’ve clicked on “MetaMask”, the MetaMask pop-up notification will open. On the notification, you’ll see all of your MetaMask accounts, and if you only have one account, you don’t have to do anything as it’ll be selected by default.

Then, tap on the “Next” button to continue with the connection process.

After you’ve tapped on the “Next” button, you’ll land on the “Connect to Account” page. On the page, you’ll see a “View the addresses of your permitted accounts (required)” checkbox. The checkbox states that you need to allow PancakeSwap to view your addresses. By default, the checkbox will be ticked as it is required.

Tap on the “Connect” button to proceed to the next step.

Step 5: Allow PancakeSwap to be used within MetaMask

Once you’ve tapped on the “Connect” button, you’ll land on the “Allow this site to add a network” page.

By default, the network that will be used is the Binance Smart Chain Mainnet network.

If it’s on another network, you can change it later via your MetaMask Settings.

Tap on the “Approve” button to proceed to the next step.

After you’ve tapped on “Approve”, you’ll land on the “Allow this site to switch the network?” page.

The final step is to switch the selected network on MetaMask to the Binance Smart Chain Mainnet wallet.

To do so, tap on the “Switch network” to switch the network.

After you’ve tapped on “Switch network”, you’ll be back on PancakeSwap.

On PancakeSwap, you’ll see your wallet address at the top-right corner of the page.

This means that you’ve successfully connected MetaMask to PancakeSwap.

Now, you’ll be able to swap BNB for another token.

You can do so by pasting the address of the token that you want to buy on the “To” field.

Then, enter the amount of BNB that you want to swap for the token and click on “Swap” to swap them.

You’ve successfully learned how to connect MetaMask to PancakeSwap!

Conclusion

There you have it guys! Connecting your metamask to Pancakeswap can be very beneficial but there are certain things to take note of: Make sure that the selected network on MetaMask is the Binance Smart Chain network If it isn’t, you need to change your network to it otherwise, you won’t be able to use BNB to swap for another token.
